Mini 'Oops' Purchase

Last week I mentioned that there's a bargain bin full of Ulta3 nail polishes at my local supermarket. Even though the first time I saw it, I'd determined that the colours were all horrendous not for me, I can't help looking in it every time. I was at the supermarket again yesterday, and, true to form, I had a look. Well, they had a few extra colours in amongst the neon yellows and lime greens, so I had a good dig around. I was reluctant to buy anything because none really leaped out at me.

But then! I saw that they were half price - only a dollar! How can you go wrong for a dollar?? So I bought these:

Here we see the Ulta3 Nail Colour in:
❖ Red Glitter - red is not my favourite colour, but I need more glitter in my life, dammit! I can see it working over a few of the colours I already own.
❖ Natural - at first I was a bit perplexed by this. It reminds me of the Avon little girl's nail polish that I had when I was a kid. It looks pretty good on, though. It enhances the natural colour of your nail bed. Interesting.
❖ Base Coat - technically I don't already have a base coat. I normally use one of my Sally Hansen nail strengtheners. So I'm wondering if a proper base coat will do any better.

Unfortunately I can't try these out at the moment. After I've painted my nails 3 or 4 weeks in a row, they suddenly start to peel and split really badly, and I need to give them a rest for a couple of weeks. I was thinking of starting a Nails of the Week feature, but then I had a good look at my cuticles as well and they're too embarrassing to be brought out into public! I tend to pick at them when I'm nervous, sometimes even to the point of bleeding, so they're all ragged and horrible.
Perhaps I should do a feature on healing your cuticles, instead!
